In contrast, the five lovely, lively Christmas programs have filled us with joy and laughter and reminded us of the hope and love that children bring to our lives. Richard Held and Missy Haskamp brought out the performer, singer, dancer, comedian, and thoughtful child that exists in each of us and is so brilliantly demonstrated by our children.
We have so much for which to be thankful in this holiday season and one of the greatest of these is the love, support, understanding and shared joy of our community of St. Paul’s. Let us lean into and celebrate the many blessings we enjoy and keep those less fortunate than we close to our minds and hearts too.
Best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful Christmas, a restful break, new memories and traditions created, and safe travels. We will welcome your return in the new year!

Science Olympiad Team at Pembroke Hill
The second science Olympiad preliminary turned a wet, windy and crisp winter day into a success when we placed third out of nineteen middle schools. Medals or ribbons were won in the following events: Awesome Aquifers, Crime Busters, Dynamic Planet, Experimental Design, Food Science, Forestry, Keep the Heat, Microbe Mission, Mission Possible, Optics, Road Scholar, Rocks & Minerals and Water Quality. There are twenty-three total challenging events in a competition and the entire team must perform well in order to place. We learned a lot, ate a lot and had a lot of fun.
5th Grade Reads for 2012
On Friday, December 9, first – fifth graders read for 2012 seconds which is about 34 minutes. This is a long time tradition in the Intermediate Division. After we read we all enjoyed hot cocoa and a cookie. It is a great time of year to relax with schoolmates and read.
6th Grade Science
Sixth grade students have been studying force and motion. The experiment was exploring the effect of buoyancy on the weight of an object.

Lower School Advent Gifts from the Heart
Like busy bees, children were warming up their voices, and offering their gifts from the heart. By donating items for the shoe boxes and hanging family photos on the tree with wishes for peace and love throughout the season, the children are enjoying this season of giving. In addition to toiletries, first – fifth grade students were invited to share their talent at the conclusion of Chapels. Students flocked to Mrs. Watt after the announcement. More than 20 Third Graders, 12 fourth graders and 6 fifth graders gave the gift of music in song or by playing an instrument at the conclusion of our Chapels between Dec. 5 and December 15. Guitar, violins, piano, and voices in song were the gifts that ended our Chapels each day.
Students Shine for Holiday Programs
We love ringing in the holidays with a variety of heartwarming Christmas programs. Through the singing of our students, we are reminded of the true spirit and meaning of the holidays.
Under the direction of Mr. Held and Mrs. Rousey, musicians, storytellers and carolers entertained distinguished guests in the Middle School Christmas Program.
The beautiful voices of our students lit up the church during the 3rd-5th grade Christmas program.
The toddler and preschool students dazzled us all with delightful singing and jingle bell ringing as they performed “Jesus: Light of the World”, an adaptation from the musical by Bette Dale Moore.
Kindergarten Elves, Santas and Reindeer, accompanied by pre-kindergarten students dressed in their holiday best, sang joyfully to parents, grandparents, siblings and special friends.
The first and second graders dazzled friends and family western style as they performed "Christmas At The O.K. Corral, A Rootin’ Tootin’ Holiday Musical For Young Voices" by, Teresa Jennings.
A special thank you to Missy Haskamp and Richard Held for their creativity, passion and dedication to instill a love of music in our students as they guide them through these heartwarming performances!
